Measure the need.
Start with the car, the packaging space and the use case. A good brief identifies what needs to improve before a component is drawn.
CAD DESIGN & 3D PRINTING
Touring Works will offer CAD-led design and 3D printing from launch: supporting our own builds and creating selected specialist parts for customers.
A PRACTICAL DESIGN LOOP
The best part is not simply a printed part. It is a considered answer to a real problem on a real car.
Our approach starts with the vehicle and its intended use: the space available, the surrounding components, the load it needs to carry and the finish it should have. CAD provides the route to develop that idea before committing to a part.
3D printing gives us a practical way to prototype, refine and produce selected low-volume parts where an off-the-shelf solution does not make sense.
Design work will be grounded in Touring Works’ own vehicles and build programmes. That gives every proposed part a clear context for fitment, iteration and assessment before it is considered for wider use.
FROM PROBLEM TO PART
We will keep the process direct: understand the need, model the solution and use prototypes to improve it before any specialist part is offered.
Start with the car, the packaging space and the use case. A good brief identifies what needs to improve before a component is drawn.
CAD lets us develop dimensions, interfaces and form carefully—making changes in the model rather than discovering them after the part is made.
Prototypes will be assessed on the vehicle so fit, access and practical use can inform the next version before any small-batch part is considered.
PLANNED APPLICATIONS
The programme will focus on specialist, low-volume components that solve clear packaging, usability or finishing problems within a build.
Use early parts to assess fit, routing, position and day-to-day usability before committing to a final version.
Selected interior, trim, mounting and integration parts designed for a particular vehicle or a small run of like-minded builds.
Components designed alongside the wider project, so they support the car’s intended use rather than becoming an isolated add-on.
WHERE WE DRAW THE LINE
Specialist and low-volume. We will focus on parts with a clear reason to exist, not generic items produced simply because they can be printed.
Fitment-led. A prototype is part of the learning process; its feedback will shape the design before any customer-facing part is considered.
Appropriate to the component. We will not present early printed parts as replacements for safety-critical or structurally loaded components without the necessary engineering, validation and material assurance.
